Saint Valentine – Are Saints Supposed to be like this?

Among those deeds which brought down the fall of Roman Empire was a celebration of a filthy day. On 13 to 15 February, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. The men sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slain.

The Roman romantics “were drunk. They were naked,” says Noel Lenski, a historian at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Young women would actually line up for the men to hit them, Lenski says. They believed this would make them fertile.

Today obscenity has changed its form. Women are hit by flirtatious flowery words of Valentine day cards. They are hit with false promises of trustworthiness in form of merit cards of artificial appreciations. The most common global lie gifted to females on Valentine day is : I AM ONLY YOURS .. If the Roman Empire lost is valour and power so will the other super powers of today and super powers in waiting , tomorrow , if they succumb to immodest festivals.

Girl friends, wives, mistress will get flooded with cards of false appreciations. Flattery will be justified globally. Valentine day is a big business, and a huge industry of developing the art of fooling females through display of artificial love. Millions of husbands would be sending love cards to their wives declaring their unending love, but then quietly take out their hidden girlfriends or mistresses to their favorite restaurants. Many rich young men would be courting different girls, during breakfast, lunch and dinner and vowing a monopolized love to each of them.

According to the market research firm IBIS World, Valentine’s Day sales reached $17.6 billion last year; this year’s sales are expected to total $18.6 billion. The question is what do they sell? If Saint Valentine had been alive today he would be earning billions of Dollars out of the copyright that people use his name to sell cards, parties, dance and music tickets. In 1913, Hallmark Cards of Kansas City, Mo., began mass producing valentines. February has not been the same since.

Dating sites aren’t just for singles anymore. USA Today has reported that today, the day after Valentine’s Day, is one of the biggest days of the year for AshleyMadison.com, a dating website for married men and women. Ashley Madison is a website for cheaters. Men and women who are married yet they look outside for affairs settle on ashley madison.

Some analyst say that Valentine was a person who was executed because of his multiple sexual adventures with the wives, and the daughters of high society. These men celebrated the day as ” We Got Rid of Him ” But today, people celebrate his death day welcoming the culture of affairs. What a reverse turn!.

The ancient Romans may have got rid of Valentine by executing him but now we cannot get rid of the legacy of Valentine. You cannot execute a culture or a life style at the stroke of a sword or a bullet. Valentine day is now celebrated everyday. Deceptive promises of life long togetherness, are not confined to Valentine day alone, or a section of a people. It is there in every corner of media. You don’t need to be present on Valentine day to celebrate it. It is celebrated in private chats of Facebook, Watts App, Skype….

It is a system of the Western way of life, where in spite of lovers day, every third marriage ends up in a divorce within the first three years of marriage . Do real lovers desert their spouses and give preference to other young and beautiful girls and that too in such a short span? In US where 45 percent of working women force are those women who are deserted by their husbands and boyfriends or thrown out of ‘live in relations’. People are falling in and out of love in whole sale. What about those flowery and flattery words on your valentine card?

All these pomp and show in the name of a man who is titled as Saint! SAINT VALENTINE!!!! Are saints supposed to be like this?
