After Covid-19 Bubonic Plague again takes place

I think it was 2015, when western United States suffering from an unusual plague and its terminology becomes Human plague. Since April 1, 2015, a total of 11 cases of human plague have been reported in residents of six states: Arizona (two), California (one), Colorado (four), Georgia (one), New Mexico (two), and Oregon (one). Nine of the 11 patients were male; median age was 52 years (range= 14-79 years). Three patients aged 16, 52, and 79 years died.

Plague is a rare, life-threatening, flea-borne zoonosis caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. During 2001-2012, the annual number of human plague cases reported in US ranged from 1 to 17 (median= three cases). According to BBC, from 2010 to 2015 there were 3,428 cases reported worldwide, including 584 deaths. Before United States, The Bubonic plague spreads through Europe between 1347 and 1351. It was like wildfire epidemic, most evil or violent pandemic in the time of history. People generally claim the Black Death was caused by Bubonic plague. But they could be wrong or may be right, Almighty knows better. According to Debora Mackenzie, this Pandemic killed at least a third of the population, more than 25 million people of Europe. Victims first suffered pain, fever and boils, then swollen lymph nodes and blotches on the skin.

Let us knowing more about Bubonic plague

Bubonic plague is the most common form among the two main clinical forms of plague of Infection i.e Bubonic and Pneumonic. As already discussed that plague is caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacteria usually found in small mammals and their fleas. Plague is transmitted between animals and humans by the bite of infected fleas, direct contact with infected tissues, and inhalation of infected respiratory droplets.

Signs or what we say Symptoms of Bubonic Plague

People infected with plague usually develop acute febrile disease (flue and fever)

Howsoever, swollen lymph nodes, pain or scar in muscles, pain in abdomen, Sudden onset of fever, head and body aches, weakness, chills, vomiting and nausea. These are non-specific systematic symptoms after an incubation period of one to seven days.

Treatment for Bubonic plague

Antibiotics and supportive therapy are effective against plague but early treatment is not only the sufficient but necessary.

At length, I would like to add my announcement that why I have been writing this article, it is only because we’re in ordeal of Epidemic Covid_19 and during this hard time a suspected case of Bubonic plague has been reported in China. So people are generally Awe-stricken and we are not able to tolerate another epidemic. In order to deal such plague so I would like to advise people to avoid direct contact with infected body fluids and tissues. Take precautions against flea bites.
